About Us
In a meeting with the State Secretary of Health, Operation Smile Brazil received a commitment of support for the Foundation’s programs in the state of Rio Grande do Norte with the creation of the first Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate Service at the Hospital Maria Alice Fernandes. In January, Operation Smile Brazil medical volunteers from around the country traveled to Fortaleza to be guest educators for Operation Smile’s Cranio-facial Education Mission at Hospital Infantil Albert Sabin. The 12 reconstructive surgeries performed by Operation Smile Brazil surgeons were transmitted live to a lecture hall where surgeons and medical students from Fortaleza had the opportunity to learn more about these kinds of complex cases. The Foundation has opened an office in São Paulo and has hired two employees to manage ever increasing programmatic and fund-raising activities. Preparations are under way to conduct two international and four local missions in 2007.
